The Holtsville Fire Department proudly protects over 10,000 people living in an area of 3.5 square miles. We operate out of 1 station that protects a primarily residential area. Our department is a public department whose members are on a volunteer status. The Holtsville Fire Department provides both Fire and Ambulance services to the community. There is a total of 75 members of the department, 31 of those members are trained Emergency Medical Technicians and several Paramedic's.  There are several large industries that make their home in our district. They are: KEYSPAN Natural Gas Plant, Island 16 Cinema, Long Island Power Authority, Tosco Fuel Supply, Motorola Headquarters, The Internal Revenue Service (IRS), Crown Plaza Hotel, Residence Inn also many Churches and Day Cares. There are thousands of vehicles that travel on the several major roadways in our district daily. We currently respond to requests from our surrounding departments for the mobilization of our Rapid Intervention Team (RIT) and Technical Rescue Team.  Several members of the department are specially trained in confined space rescue, rope rescue, high angle rescue and Hazardous Materials Technicians. The department also sponsors a softball team, that is comprised of 20 members who compete with other local fire departments.
